Turkish President Erdogan Says ‘Spirit Of UN Is Dead In Gaza’, Knocks Islamic Nations For Failing To Take ‘Common Decision’ On Israel

He knocked the Islamic world for failing to decide on the issue, describing Israel as a threat to humanity.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned the United Nations for its inaction as Israel commits ‘genocide’ in Gaza, the Palestinian enclave.

Erdogan, therefore, called on the “Islamic world” to react after the latest deadly Israeli strikes in Gaza killed scores of Palestinians, Alarabiya reports.

“The UN cannot even protect its staff. What are you waiting for to act? The spirit of the United Nations is dead in Gaza,” Erdogan told lawmakers from his AKP party.

Incidentally, the UN Security Council met to discuss a deadly Israeli attack on a displacement camp west of Rafah on Tuesday that killed 21 people, according to a civil defense official in Gaza.

He knocked the Islamic world for failing to decide on the issue, describing Israel as a threat to humanity.

“I have some words to say to the Islamic world: what are you waiting for to take a common decision?” Erdogan asked.

“Israel is not just a threat to Gaza but to all of humanity,” he said.

“No state is safe as long as Israel does not follow international law and does not feel bound by international law,” Erdogan added.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on Wednesday, withdrew the country’s ambassador to Israel.

The withdrawal of the Brazilian Ambassador to Israel on Wednesday followed months of tensions between the two countries over the war in Gaza.

On Tuesday, May 28, Spain, Ireland and Norway formally recognised Palestinian statehood.

The governments of the three countries last week vowed to officially recognise Palestine as a state, prompting Israel to recall its ambassadors from the countries.
